CMA H&I suggested requirements:

To speak at a CMA H&I panel one must have at least six months of sobriety. To become a panel leader one must have at least two years of sobriety, must have attended H&I orientation, and must have spoken six (6) times at a CMA H&I meeting.

To all speakers when sharing we need to be careful in describing drug effects as some may be triggered and desire of use may be heightened. Please remember the recovery of others and avoid glorifying drugs and/or drug driven sex.  This is extremely important when speaking with adolescents.

Most Speaking commitments are in controlled facilities, and there are restrictions.  Keep personal items to a minimum.  Always check before if it is allowable to bring tobacco, or other personal items in with you.  The welfare of the patients and clients come first, and so does their recovery.  Non-compliance with these guidelines can be a reason for the speaker to be banned from facility.

Crystal Meth Anonymous Institution Meetings:

CMA is starting meetings in correctional facilities in the State of Minnesota, at the state level, and the county levels.  There is a need for volunteers that meet the speaking requirements, and also background check requirements.  The standard requirement is currently:  Not having any criminal background, OR, if you have felonies, or misdemeanors, you have to be off probation, or parole, for a year.  You cannot have charges currently pending.  There will be BCA background checks, and with felons, the final approval then must come from facility warden.  No contraband of any kind is allowed, no tobacco, PICTURE ID, and there is a background check form and approval and orientation for each facility.  These will be CMA meetings being brought into the facilities, so the ability to facilitate a meeting is required.  There are many available facilities open for both men and women, if interested in any of the following, please contact the CMA MN Area Intergroup H & I Chairperson.  brendab@cmamn.org
